UNF English Branding

The Department of English at the University of North Florida needed a marketing campaign that encourages students to declare English as their major. This was a group project, and I worked on the video and digital display side of the campaign.

PROCESS
Before starting the project, my team and I decided on a new message for the English department. A key word English faculty had for us was "interdisciplinary," saying that English as a major has multiple branches.
We used mind-maps and lists before coming up with a visual system that appears like writing or editing an essay, while introducing broad career opportunities English majors can have.
Storyboard for short-burst interviews.
At first, all interviews were going to fit within a portrait-style Instagram reel, until I decided to go with a normal widescreen format. This is because Instagram allows reels in widescreen, and opting for widescreen means the video can be reused on YouTube, Facebook, or on a department website.
My colleagues, Tea Runjaic, Nik Germ, Casie Ward and I created a set of brochures, catalogs, logos, and videos for the department. As the motion designer, I created an assortment of kinetic typography which matches our system's editing marks and scribbles.
Examples of “animated keywords” that appear when spoken by the interviewee. The animation feels like an author highlighting or marking-up important quotes; calling back to book writing and studying literature.
